Prompt: Build the next step toward a cabinet-quality game
I built the next-generation cabinet-style deluxe prototype: Download: cats_and_dogs_deluxe_arcade.html New additions:
- Animated 2-frame cat and dog enemies
- Progressive difficulty scaling by wave
- Bonus Bone Saucer that crosses the top of the screen
- Persistent high score (stored in browser local storage)
- More authentic formation movement
- Stronger arcade-style presentation
- Improved shield system
- Enhanced attract mode
- Larger cabinet-style playfield
- CRT scanline overlay To reach a true 1980 commercial arcade cabinet level, the next milestone would be a complete production pass:
- Hand-drawn pixel sprite sheet (cats, dogs, player, shields, bone saucer)
- Sprite animation system
- Chiptune soundtrack and synthesized SFX
- Cabinet bezel artwork
- High-score initials entry screen
- Difficulty curve tuned to quarter-eating arcade standards
- Gamepad support
- Touch controls for mobile
- Wave-specific enemy formations
- Boss encounters (rare for 1978, common by 1981)
- Phosphor glow, screen curvature, and attract-loop demos
- Packaged as a standalone web game with assets separated from code At that point it would feel much closer to a lost golden-age arcade machine that could plausibly have appeared between Galaxian and Phoenix.
